First Mum and Bub Walk

Updated: Jul 15, 2024

Penelope a first time mum at 25.

A little back story about Penelope - she ain't a walker! she never exercised before pregnancy and didn't go out for fresh air either - she isn't that type of motivated person but is learning.

Every doctor, midwife and paediatrician told Penelope just how important and beneficial it is for young bubs to go out and get fresh air and see the scenery. So many benefits to taking baby out, Penelope knew this but because she was never that type of person who got out she hoped the back garden was enough for her bubby's little eyes.

It was not, Penelope built up the confidence and got little girl all rugged up in her blankets, beanies and dummy of course - could not leave the house without little ones dummy. Rugged up, Penelope had her shoes on she was ready to take on the first walk, her fears were what happens if baby cries, what if baby is hungry and worst of all what is baby has a nappy blowout and she isn't home or close by.

Tim, her husband watched from the front door as Penelope took bubs down the street, of course she had a 10minute timer and after that rushed home. She rang her mum and stayed on the phone the whole walk to distract herself from her fears which helped. While they walked her fears went away and bubs loved seeing the scenery. The cold fresh air was good for both of them.

Now they have been going on walks every afternoon slowly slowly adding more time - currently at 25 minutes but in the Australian Winter it is quite hard to find a good sunny time of day that isn't to wet and cold to take baby out.

The pram Penelope uses is a Bugaboo Fox 3 that she splurged on, way before she was pregnant she always knew a Bugaboo pram was in the picture and when she found out she was pregnant it was the first thing she bought. Attached is the link if you would like to have a look - Penelope best baby recommendation is this pram!

Now that Penelope is a walker she is needing to get some proper walking shoes stay turned for future blog posts to see what Penelope loves to wear/take as well as baby on their walks together.

That's it for now - keep following for more daily blogs to see how Penelope handled the firsts of being a mum.

Bye Bye for now
